December 7th 2014: season opening of Teatro alla Scala di Milano. One of the most awaited events in the international cultural panorama, with a massive media coverage from all around the world.
The opera chosen to open this year’s season, represented as usualon the night of Sant’Ambrogio, is Fidelio, music by Ludwing Van Beethoven on a libretto by Joseph Sonnleithner e Georg Friedrich Treitschke. Fidelio was represented for the first time on november 20th 1805 at Theater an der Wien.This two acts Singspiele tells the story of Leonore who’s looking for her husband Florestan, captived during the Terror by his greatest enemy Don Pizarro. Leonore pretends to be a man in order to investigate in an easier way and she named herself Fidelio. Her quest brings her to the prison runned by Don Pizarro.The event will be aired live by Rai 5 and Rai Radio 3 starting from 5:30 PM. The Orchestra of Teatro alla Scala will be held by Maestro Daniel Barenboim.
